What is the maximum length of a song in the Eurovision Song Contest?

A song in the Eurovision Song Contest cannot be longer than 3 minutes. In 1957, a max length of 3.5 minutes was introduced, which then in 1962 was cut further to the current 3 minutes. The songs must be performed live and cannot have been published or performed earlier than a set date a few months ahead of the ESC.
