Explanation
The intestine (or bowel) is a segment of the alimentary canal and consists of two segments, the small intestine and the large intestine. In humans, the small intestine is further subdivided into the duodenum, jejunum and ileum. The duodenum is the first 20-25 cm, followed by the jejunum and the ileum. Altogether, the intestine is around 6 metres along and measures 2-3 cm in diameter.
